"everything is a human construct" - sculptures
27 march 2008 - april 27 2008

Producing images has become an exercise in philosophy…
Despite our best efforts there will always be a screen between us and “reality”.

A baby first explores reality by taking things into its mouth.
Everything we know is in the first place a product of sight, smell, taste, touch, hearing, stereognosis; our senses in combination with our organizing mind.

Even nature as portrayed in these images is constructed, a man-made lake, a photo of a man-made lake, a photocopy of a man-made lake, a lithograph of a photocopy of a photo of a man-made lake…

Layer upon layer through the ink-loaded rollers of a press…
We roll and fold our human reality, constructing it, deconstructing, it, constructing it again. Destroying and creating.
With enough butter and sugar it may even be palatable.
